TECH/ talks: Green Software Workshops
From Inspiration to Action: Turning Green Software Talks into Hands-on Workshops
At the/experts, we believe in not just talking about sustainable software, but also enabling it.
Following the recent conference talk of our colleague Jan Boonen, “Putting Your Software on a Low-Carb Diet”, we’ve taken the next step: we are currently transforming this session into an interactive, hands-on workshop. The talk was all about raising awareness—how our software decisions, from architecture to deployment, have a direct impact on energy use and carbon emissions. But awareness is just the beginning.
The new workshop format is in development and will give teams a toolkit to take action. We are building it for developers, architects, and tech leads who are ready to apply green practices in their own codebases and pipelines. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all checklist, the workshop will focus on mindset, priorities, and patterns that can be tailored to your context.
We don’t believe in silver bullets. But we do believe that small, intentional choices—made daily—can have a significant environmental impact. Our goal is to make those choices visible, understandable, and practical. So you can apply them in the real world.
This journey is just getting started. Whilst we are still very busy preparing this workshop, we’d love to hear from you, if you’re interested in making your software more sustainable.
